There is a product that will remove all the polish and the stain. It is called Klean-Strip Brush Cleaner. It is used to remove paint from brushes, rollers, trays, etc. But it also works on carpet, upholstery, clothing. It works equally well on water-based and oil-based paints. It also removes hardened enamel, varnish, shellac, laquer, and polyurethane. Most paint and hardware stores will stock this item. It is a marvelous product to have around the house. I am a professional painter, and I use it all the time! It is manufactured by W.M.Barr out of Nashville TN. The product # is QBC12 There is a toll free help line available. 1-800-398-3892 Mon. through Fri. 8:00 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Central time. Hope this helps.I asked about removing a finger nail pollish stain.....should've been more specific?

How do I remove nail polish from white duvet cover?
Several methods
1) Iron, and paper.
Place the piece of paper on top of the polish, and press the hot iron. The heat from the iron will loosen the polish and makes it easier to scribe it off. It depends on the type of fabric.
2) Windex, vinager based cleaner and OFF Skintastic also can work. The OFF is the best. How do I remove nail polish from white duvet cover?

Fabric Stain Guide
Nail Polish - Always read and follow the care instructions and any warnings on the garment label. And, follow these General Rules for stain removal.
For stains from nail polish, apply nail polish remover to the back of the stain while laying the fabric on white absorbent towels. Replace towels frequently.
Then rinse and launder.
Never use nail polish remover on acetate, triacetate or modacrylic, as they will dissolve. Take these fabrics to the dry cleaner.

Carpet - Use nail polish remover to blot the nail polish out. Using too much will eat through the backing. Wash the spot with a mild detergent and warm water after that.
