How to remove nail polish out of carpet?

My daughter spilled GLOBS of red polish all over the tan carpet, I have tried the alcohol + hairspray...do u need to wait after u do it, or do it in a certain order? I have also tried shaving cream??? I am lost and need to get it out...any suggestions??How to remove nail polish out of carpet?
Carpet - Use nail polish remover to blot the nail polish out. Using too much will eat through the backing. Wash the spot with a mild detergent and warm water after that.
